2024 area contest
We competed in the 2nd section of the 2024 London and Southern Counties in Stevenage on Saturday 16 March.
We were drawn 7th of 18 bands.
Our preparation of the test piece, Triptych, composed by our band president Philip Sparke, had gone to plan, and we were pleased with our performance.
The adjudicators placed us in 12th position, so remain in the 2nd section this year.
Some comments on our performance, from Brassing Around:
‘From the start of the last movement, agility and bounce is introduced into the music, continued by the basses with unrelenting power. Euphoniums and baritones join forces to glide over the band in glimmering beauty. This bass trombone’s power is bottomless – truly amazing! The gentle cornets contrasting the deep and forceful basses is amazing to listen to. With one final flourish, a performance to be proud of is over – excellently done!’
